A Mass for Dom Angélico

Dom Angélico was born into a poor family and distinguished himself by supporting the social movements that emerged in the late 1950s. He was the bishop of the oppressed and of the protest marches, a champion of the struggle for better housing and living conditions for workers. He led crowds at masses dedicated to human rights. In the realm of journalism, he kept communities informed through *Grita Povo*. Persecuted by the military dictatorship, he confronted the police and faced repeated arrests and threats, yet he never fell silent. Dom Angélico lived for 92 years, believing it possible to unite faith in God with political action for a better world.
